"The art of entertaining" with a French Flair. In this post, I’m sharing tips on how to set up a beautiful table and curate a thoughtfully selected menu for a memorable dining experience.

"The art of entertaining" is the very essence of hospitality, a delicate balance between elegance and simplicity. It involves creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where every guest feels appreciated and valued. This is achieved through attention to detail: a beautifully set table, a thoughtfully planned menu, a friendly ambiance, and above all, a sincere and attentive presence. More than just an act of hospitality, it is a moment of sharing, generosity, celebrating togetherness.

Choose a Theme or Style

Decide on a theme or color palette (e.g., rustic, modern, classic, seasonal).
Use this as a guide for selecting your tableware, linens, and decorations.

Start with the Foundation

Tablecloth or Runner: Use a clean, well-pressed tablecloth or a stylish table runner to set the tone.
Placemats or Chargers: Add placemats or decorative chargers for each place setting to define individual spaces.

Set the Tableware

Plates: Layering tableware is the key to introduce different colors and textures and add visual interest.
Napkins: I recommend checking out the different ways of folding napkins using or ring or not to give a special effect and dress up your table.

Arrange the Cutlery and Glassware

Forks, Knives, Spoons: Forks go on the left, salad forks on outer left and dinner forks closer to the plate. Knifes to the right of the plate and spoon to the right of the knives.
Glassware: Make sure to include water glass and wine glass.

Include Finishing Touches

Centerpieces: Use flowers, greenery, candles, decorative elements or seasonal decor that goes with your theme. Make sure to keep room for laying out the food and avoid tall elements to not obstruct conversations.
Lighting & Ambiance: Use candles or fairy lights for soft lighting and a warm atmosphere. Set the mood with a music that matches your theme.
